Started in 1884 in Switzerland, Victorinox is perhaps best known as the manufacturer of the Original Swiss Army Knife. Today Victorinox by R.H. Forschner makes everyday cutlery for the home as well as professional forged cutlery and multi-purpose tools. To keep this line affordable the blades are stamped. And, in keeping with Victorinox’s Swiss Knife quality, the knives are hand-finished to a razor-sharp edge that can be re-sharpened repeatedly. With no rivets or grooves to harbor bacteria, Victorinox’s patented Fibrox no slip handle, and being dishwasher safe these knives are proven to be very hygienic. Victorinox by R.H. Forschner’s knives are versatile, lightweight, and long-lived. Durable enough for restaurant work, yet a great addition to your family’s cutlery collection.
To avoid the chromium-plating of carbon-steel knives, Charles Elsener, the oldest son of the founder urged a steel-mill to develop a stainless-steel that could be hardened. After many trials he manufactured in Ibach the first stainless-steel knives. As the results were not quite satisfactory at the beginning great efforts weer made the following years to improve the quality of the stainless-steel knives. In 1931 the firm Brown Boveri in Baden, Switzerland was assigned the task of installing at VICTORINOX Ibach the world's first fully electric steel hardening plant. Afterwards the VICTORINOX professional and butcher knives became famous first in Switzerland, France and the USA and later worldwide.
Victorinox knives feature unique Fibrox handles, designed for comfort and offer a textured surface for a safer grip. Victorinox knives feature a taper ground beveled edge. The knives are thicker on top, while the edge is thinner and extremely sharp. Victorinox professional and kitchen knives are conical ground along the full length of the blade and crosswise. This results in a wider break point with less risk of the blade breaking. All blades are additionally highly polished for better cutting performance.
Victorinox knives are made in Switzerland with a lifetime warranty. Dishwasher safe.
The new forged kitchen knife range from Victorinox Forged knives for the well-equipped kitchen "Perfectly balanced" are the best words to describe the new forged kitchen knife range from Victorinox, the knife manufacturer from the Swiss Knife Valley. With ergonomic handles and excellent steel, these knives are beautiful to look at and elegantly shaped. They are forged in Solingen, Germany, according to the specifications of the Victorinox designers. Not only are these knives attractive in appearance, they are also perfectly suited to every kitchen application. The renowned Victorinox sharpness is guaranteed with all these knives, as the blades are sharpened twice and the blade edges laser tested.
Because a single knife cannot do every job, Victorinox supplies a range of tools to perfectly meet every requirement. For preparing and cutting small vegetables, a short, rigid blade is required. For cutting bread and tomatoes or carving a roast, a serrated knife is the recommended tool. For effortless slicing, kitchen professionals need a knife with a smooth blade, and a large kitchen knife is a useful tool not just for cutting, but also for finely chopping herbs and onions. Kitchen knives and Santoku knives are truly multi-functional tools and invaluable kitchen helpers.
It is of course possible to clean the knives in a dishwasher. However, there are disadvantages to this method of cleaning. In the dishwasher, knives and cutlery are placed in a basket. There is a risk that the knives may knock against each other during the cleaning cycle and become blunt. This can also happen if sharp knifes cut into the plastic coating of the dishwasher.
If you want to give your knives the best care and attention, it is best to clean them immediately after use with warm water, a damp cloth and a little washing-up liquid.
Look out for the oval "VICTORINOX" quality seal with the eagle emblem.
